York Region Wants to Know Your Business for the Directory

The region is undertaking its first comprehensive business survey in three years until the end of August

York Region is still looking for more companies to participate in its first comprehensive employment survey in three years, which will run until the end of August.

The region is asking more businesses to participate in the survey, which highlights all businesses in York Region and addresses areas such as jobs and growth, while expanding the business directory. The survey was conducted annually in 2019, but was paused during the pandemic.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenge for many small businesses in York Region,” the municipality said on social media July 25. “Take the survey to get your free business listing today and let your community find you.”

The region has an online survey underway, but also does telephone and in-person interviews conducted by summer students. The survey includes questions about business details, number of employees and how long it has been in operation. Listing your business in the regional directory is optional.

The region said it would use the data to monitor economic trends, analyze the business sector and forecast future needs. The region said sensitive information is kept confidential.

Although the survey is conducted annually, the region said it will now be conducted every two years. The survey is available until the end of August.
