Artists Invited to Submit Phone Book Cover Designs
The Northwestel Inc. Yearbook Cover Art Contest is back.
The company is accepting submissions until October 12 for the following telephone directory coverages: Yukon/Northern British Columbia, Nunavut and Northwest Territories.
Entrants have the chance to win $5,000 and a spot on the directory cover in one of the areas.
They must be current residents of Northwestel’s operating area (Nunavut, Northwest Territories, Northern British Columbia and Yukon).
Artists whose work has appeared on the cover of a Northwestel yearbook within the past four years are not eligible.
Works to be considered must be two-dimensional hand-rendered original works of art (such as acrylic, oil, watercolor, silkscreen, etc.), digital visual works of art (such as digital painting, drawing, or computer-generated still imagery) or three-dimensional works (such as sculptures and prints).
“Although photography is considered an art form, we are not currently looking for this type of artwork for yearbook covers,” Northwestel said.
“The work cannot have already been published, reproduced in any format or exhibited.
“The artist should have no future plans to sell, publish, reproduce or exhibit the artwork.”
A maximum of two pieces can be submitted by each artist.
Late registrations cannot be accommodated due to the production schedule of telephone directories. Winners in each territory will be notified by November 10.
Entrants who have not been selected as winners will not be contacted.
The winning repertoire cover will be officially unveiled in the spring of 2023.
Entries must be accompanied by an official entry form containing the following information:
• the artist’s name, address, telephone number and e-mail address (if available);
• a short biography of the artist;
• a description of the work, including dimensions, support and title; and
• acknowledgment of the rules and regulations of the contest.
